THE YELLOWSTONE GRAND CANYON 8 ft 8 ins x 15 ft CARL TOLPO, ARTIST

Carl Tolpo painted entirely on location -in sections - oil on panels at the canyon rim.
1974 And at last-in sections- he assembled the colossal canyon mural art. Carl Tolpo heeded such old masters as Leonardo and Durër with use of the grid as an artist’s tool to break down space into smaller units to merge anew as an integrated image. (Digital images form by grids of colored squares now.) Thomas Moran inspired the huge scale. Tolpo painted 100 years later, en plein air, rapted by nature and wildlife at Yellowstone National Park.
